Grill 23

When my best friend flew in from L.A., we discussed where to go for dinner.  I asked what she was in the mood for and she said steak; and that's when I knew, there was only one place I had in mind: Grill 23

Playing at the Copley Square Hotel before dinner:

On Jess: Leopard dress from LF, Banana Republic booties
Vintage ostrich clutch
On me: Rachel Pally dress, Sequin blazer from Saks,
Sam Edelman zipper booties, Jewelry from H&M
Black studded clutch from Urban Outfitters

"The elegant decor maintains original turn-of-the-century sculpted ceilings and massive Corinthian columns, combined with mahogany paneling, green marble accents, brass detail, and oak wood floors gives Grill 23 its classic, refined ambiance."

Touch of modern: open kitchen

The perfect example of when good bread is the opening act to a good meal.

To start we tried the Yellowtail Carpaccio
with locally foraged mushroom relish,
arugula aioli, fingerling potato crisps

I decided to pair it with a glass of
Riesling - Alsace, Trimbach

Beef.  It's what's for dinner.

For her entree, she went with the Slow Roasted Beef Tenderloin, horseradish marinade, mashed potatoes, port & gorgonzola reduction.

For my entree, I tried the 8oz Twin Filets cooked to a medium rare.
They were so succulent and cooked to perfection.

I decided to pair it with a glass of
Malbec - Mendoza, Furque

Of all the different styles of potato on the menu, Pommes Frittes, Hash Browns, Blue Mashed, I was drawn to the Cajun Tots, along with my servers approval.  I was hoping for a little more kick in the spicy department; but the tender tot enveloped in a crispy exterior left me satisfied.

Normally I lean towards chocolate when choosing a dessert, but as a team collaboration, we couldn't resist the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee with Almond Macaroons.

"Since 2003, executive Chef Jay Murray has exclusively served USDA Prime, all natural, source verified, humane beef from Brandt Beef in California."

"Grill 23's mission has been to deliver world-class service and the best available product to their guests; including all-natural, humane meats, dayboat seafood and local produce from sustainable farms."

Independent Designer's Market Boston

As an advocate for all things original, Independent Designer's Market is just that.

Thanks to the creator, Kimberly Benson, you have the opportunity to meet local artisans and go behind the scenes.  It gives up and coming creatives a chance to showcase their unique designs and explain their methods behind the madness.

Here are just some of the beautiful creations from a few of the
amazing designers that I was fortunate enough to meet.

Words can't describe how amazing this woman is.  She is such a free spirit, filled with passion, and oozes out creativity which she clearly showcases in her very own steam punk neo victorian jewelry line.

Everything is one of a kind.  When I tell you that you can't find it anywhere else, you can't.  She custom designs each one, and thrives on creating a unique piece for her clients.

For all those like me, always on the hunt for that
original piece that no one else will possess.
Treasure seekers, seek no more.

They're more than just a statement piece and a conversation starter.
It's as if each piece has it's very own secret,
you're intrigued and you need to know more.

Though his demeanor was tranquil, his jewelry was bold.  The pieces were displayed, reminiscent as if these magnificent little creatures were swimming in a sea of red and black.

With their clean sharp edges they can be easily mistaken for the weapon of a stealth ninja,
but there's more than meets the eye.
These pieces are much more delicate than they appear.

Not only does he design jewelry, but he is a brilliant artist,
and a metal smith.

D'nalel by Jaime Joseph
D'nalel, named after her own inspiration, her son Leland.

Not only does Jaime design hangbags,
but she also creates her own fabric!
(refer to above photo)
It doesn't get more original than that.

Her aesthetic is fun and playful, and she creates anything that inspires her; from funky yoga mat shoulder bags (be healthy and stylish) to curtain clutches to menswear inspired overnight totes.

Me, Myself & Manolo

There comes a time in your life, when you feel like
"Wow! Is this really happening? Unreal."
For me, that time came when Manolo Blahnik (yes, the man, the myth, the legend himself, my inspiration) leaned over as if revealing the most intimate of secrets and whispered in my ear "You look so chic! I don't understand why everyone else looks like shit."
Am I dreaming? Fortunately not. This is a true story.
